Christmas arrives in the Borough of Havant

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas across the Borough of Havant, with lights starting to twinkle everywhere.

With the spirit of Christmas wafting through the air, Havant Borough Council has installed Christmas trees, lights and lamppost motifs in five locations. 

Working in partnership with various community groups and local businesses, the council is supporting many Christmas events across the borough, from the arrival of Santa to Carol singing around a tree.

Lights will begin to sparkle in Waterlooville from 5pm on Thursday 28 November. 

Moving to Emsworth, the lights will be glowing from Friday 29 November with the fun starting from 5:30pm.

Lights in Leigh Park will glimmer from Saturday 7 December.

Havant Town Centre will begin glowing from Thursday 5 December with Christmas tree lights and lamppost motifs

Hayling Island - Mengham will join in the festive fun from Saturday 30 November.

From Carols to Grottos every area across the borough will have a festive feel, organised and supported by local community groups, businesses and Havant Borough Council.   

Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet lead for Regeneration and Communities, said, "It really is starting to feel festive across our main shopping areas in the borough. By providing Christmas trees, festive lights and lamppost motifs we want to ensure our borough is a vibrant, festive and fun place to be for all the family.  

"We’re delighted that so many of our local organisations and businesses have come together to celebrate the festive season and offer these experiences for our communities and visitors alike. 

"I encourage residents and visitors to attend as many of the events as possible, bringing our communities together, supporting local businesses and creating magical festive memories."
